The Family Card

On June 10, 2020, President Andrzej Duda signed the "Family Card" to "protect" family values. It bans abortion, sex-education, and divorce. It also promotes marriage only between a man and woman, and prohibits the "spreading of LGBT ideology."

Therapists wouldn't be able to tell a gay patient that being gay is normal. Furthermore, they would be forced to tell trans-patients that they are not trans. Gay characters in the media would also be censored.

Harassment towards the LGBTQ+ community would be completely ignored.

At first, only 1/3 of the country declared themselves as "Strefa Wolna od LGBT" (LGBT-free), but because of the signing of the Family Card, the entire country is now considered an LGBT-free zone.

Maha al-Mutairi

Trans-woman Maha al-Mutairi sparked the biggest LGBTQ movement in history. Maha faced constant physical and verbal abuse in Kuwait due to it being looked down upon to be part of the LGBTQ+ community. She was sentenced to a male prison for being transgender.

“When you imprison me because I'm trans, then I get raped and sexually assaulted by people with high authority and by cops, what do you call that?” Maha said.

Mutairi was released from jail from the constant support of her lawyer, Salmeen, as well as the millions of people on social media who fought for her battle.

95k people signed petitions and with the GoFundMe page for her bail gained $13,000.
